We spend every working hour refining the seating experience using cutting edge technology grounded in ergonomic science. Our favourite words are lumbar support, cushioning, hydraulics, and of course, ergonomics.

There are many things to look out for when picking a good office chair. A good office chair should be comfortable and contain features such as a good back support, multitude of adjustable positions, lumbar support and recline settings to ensure you are sitting ergonomically correct at all times. Your joints should always be comfortable at a 90 degree angle when sitting in your chair and your feet should firmly touch the floor at all times. Breathable upholstery is preferred so as to ensure your comfort and not allow your body to overheat.

How your chair feels to your arms and shoulders is also very important, if you need to shrug your shoulders to rest them on the arm rests then your chair is not right for you as your arms should always be able to rest perfectly on the arm rests, or on the desk in line with your keyboard, while in a fully relaxed position.

The weight of an average office chair can vary greatly but the standard office chair tends to lie somewhere between 14kgs and 30kgs.

Lumbar support on an office chair should fit comfortably into the curve of your lower back. Lumbar back support in your chair helps to promote good posture by filling in the gap between the lumbar spine and the seat in order to support the natural curve of the lower back. To get the full effect of your lumbar support chair it is advised to sit up straight against the back of the chair with your feet flat on the ground.

There are majorly two types of armrests:

1. Fixed Armrest:
This pair of armrest for office chairs provides a non-adjustable support for the user’s arms. It’s generally
used in entry level products or in executive cushion chairs which are particularly not intended for
intensive use and in which the importance of the design often prevails over the technical characteristics.

2. Adjustable armrest:
Adjustable armrest allows you to adjust the height of the arm support point as it is very important for an
individual’s body to have that support while sitting when using and not using the armrest. A good
adjustable armrest should be in the correct position under the arm when needed and yet should not
hinder the movement of the chair, especially under the desk, when not needed. There are different
types of mechanism to adjust the armrest’s height; the main ones are with button. By pressing a specific
button, the armrest is free to move in height, by releasing the button, the armrest locks in the desired
position.

1D: Arm pad height is adjustable.
2D: Arm pad moves front back with height adjustment.
3D: Arm pad moves side to side along with being 2D.
4D: Arm pad changes its angle and can be set diagonally.
5D: Equipped with asymmetrical pad, that can move in all directions.

The possibility of supporting the arm offered by the armrest changes the impact on an individual’s body
posture significantly while using a chair. These transitions helps an individual to work efficiently and
focusing on their work rather than looking for a comfort.

Further, ergonomic refers to the adjustability of the chair to match the individual user needs and
preferences. For example the adjustable 4D armrest that goes up and down, forward and back and left and right. So there is a full range of adjustability to the armrest to fit an individual’s shoulder and elbow
height requirements. The back of the backrest goes up and back and it also has an adjustable lumbar
support that moves up and down as well as invert and outward. That’s really nice because not everyone
is built the same and having the adjust ability to match your individual needs is really the most
important thing.

“Gaming chairs are specifically for gamers and not for office goers” -Let’s clear this myth.

A good ergonomic office chair is considered to be ideal when it has following features:

– Adjustable Seat Height
– Adequate seat depth and width
– Lower back support (lumbar support)
– Adjustable armrest
– Swivel option
– Headrest

Any chair with mentioned features would give an individual the desired comfort that one is looking for, may it be an office chair or gaming chair. Gaming chairs are usually designed to be affordable and to look good in order to have a feel good factor, allowing individuals to sit on the chair for a longer duration at the same time ensuring that they do not lose to let them focus on their work or game. Gaming chairs are not only designed to be good looking but also with heavy padding and ergonomic features. It allows individuals to sit comfortably against their computer/gaming console tabledesk.

Hence, if gaming chair is used for WFH or for an office use, it is surely going to improve your posture and help you to focus, towards work as it’s design is meant specifically for longer seating hours and has with all the necessary ergonomic features primarily focusing on lumbar support.
